LOTOS Gemstone

In 2017, LOTOS began integrating gemstones into the brand’s captivating eyewear designs. The ETERNITY series prominently showcases princess-cut sapphires, rubies, and emeralds as its most frequently used gemstones.

Composing the colour graduation from dark to light is a challenging task, with princess cut stones carefully ground to precise measurements for setting. Due to the higher risk of breakage compared to diamonds, this process demands exceptional precision. Collecting raw stones with the proper colour gradient and accounting for potential colour changes during setting each require a significant time investment. As a result, only a limited number of models are produced each year.

Diamond & Gemstone
Settings

The LOTOS family proudly upholds a distinctive craftsmanship tradition that has endured for over a century. Every artisan possesses more than ten years of expertise in crafting exquisite jewelry and remains committed to handcrafting the diamond and gemstone settings. LOTOS skillfully utilizes the following diamond/gemstone setting techniques:

Paveé Setting

This technique involves small, full-cut brilliant stones closely set in a repeating pattern that gives the overall piece a paved appearance – hence the name. Each stone is set directly into metal that has been angled to allow more light through it, thereby optimizing the radiance of each gem.

Channel Setting

In this method, stones are placed within a metal channel with no setting material visible between the individual stones, creating a sleek contemporary look. Each gem is held securely in place by its neighbours, showcasing their beauty while offering a smooth and seamless design.

Bezel Setting

The oldest setting in the world, in use at least since the time of the Babylonians, the bezel setting surrounds a stone completely with a metal rim, providing both protection and aesthetic enhancement. This technique also highlights the stone’s shape and allows for a modern and elegant look.

Chaton Setting

The French chaton setting uses four prongs to secure a stone in place within a sort of ‘basket’, allowing more light to flow through the sides unimpeded in order to enhance its brilliance. The setting is popular for both multi-gem pieces and single-stone pendants, showcasing faceted gems to optimal radiance.
